Piedmont Soccer Association Vice President

What makes Piedmont home for you?

I have been around Piedmont since 2020. What I love most about this community is how supportive and connected it is. Families care deeply about their kids, people show up to support local teams, and there is a real sense of pride in helping young athletes succeed both on and off the field. It’s a place where I truly feel at home all the time.

What is your personal connection to soccer or youth sports?

Soccer has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up playing the game, and it eventually opened the door for me to come to the United States to continue my journey through soccer. That path ultimately led me into coaching and player development. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with athletes of many different ages, skill levels, and backgrounds from around the world.

At the same time, one of the most rewarding parts of my work is helping local young players grow both on and off the field. Experiences like these constantly remind me how powerful youth sports can be in building confidence, discipline, teamwork, and character.

What inspired you to become part of the Piedmont Soccer Association?

I was inspired to join the Piedmont Soccer Association because I truly believe in the power of youth sports to shape young people and bring communities together. After spending many years coaching and working with players in this area, I saw how passionate the Piedmont community is about supporting its athletes. I wanted to give back and contribute my experience and energy to help create a positive environment where players can grow, learn, and fall in love with the game.

What is your professional background, and what skills from this are you bringing to our team?

After playing collegiate and professional soccer, I transitioned into coaching with a strong focus on player development. I spent several years coaching with the Piedmont High School girls’ soccer program, where we had the privilege of reaching state semifinals, playing in two state finals, and winning a state championship. I currently serve as an assistant coach and goalkeeper coach at Southern Nazarene University and as the head boys soccer coach at Piedmont Middle School, while also working with youth teams in the area.

Through these experiences, I bring knowledge in player development, training methodology, leadership, and program organization. My goal is to support coaches, help create better development opportunities for players, and contribute to the continued growth of soccer in our community.

What is the most important lesson you hope young athletes learn on the field?

On the field, I hope players learn resilience, understanding that mistakes are part of the process and that improvement comes through effort, perseverance, and hard work. Hard work is something I truly value and try to instill in every athlete, because it’s a mindset they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

What do you hope they’ll learn off the field?

Off the field, I hope they learn respect, accountability, and the importance of working with others toward a common goal. The lessons learned through sports often stay with athletes long after their playing days are over.

What is your all-time favorite sports memory, either playing, watching, or coaching?

Some of my favorite sports memories come from coaching and seeing players achieve goals they worked incredibly hard for, whether that’s winning an important match, making a big save, or earning the opportunity to play at the next level. Watching athletes grow in confidence and realize their potential is one of the most rewarding parts of being involved in the game.

One memory that will always stay with me that happened right here in Piedmont is when our girls’ team won the state championship. When we returned home around 1 a.m., the police and fire department escorted our bus through town, and despite the heavy rain, families and community members were lined up along Piedmont Road waiting to celebrate the team. Seeing the community come together to support those players was incredibly special and a reminder of how powerful sports can be in bringing people together.
