What makes Piedmont home for you?
I moved from Yukon to Piedmont in 2023 because Piedmont Schools offer soccer at the middle school level, which was important for my son as he continues to develop his passion for the sport. Since moving here, I’ve really grown to appreciate the community. Piedmont has the feel of a close-knit small town while also experiencing exciting growth.
What stands out most is how supportive families are of one another and how much the community values its schools and youth programs. Having worked around the world, I can appreciate the unique combination of small-town community spirit with a forward-looking growth mindset—making Piedmont a wonderful place for young athletes to thrive and learn valuable life lessons.
What is your personal connection to soccer or youth sports?
Soccer has been a lifelong passion for me. I grew up playing the sport internationally and continued playing competitively at the varsity and college levels. Experiencing soccer in multiple countries taught me that sports are a universal language that fosters collaboration, cultural understanding, and individual growth. Now, as a parent watching my son play, I see how youth sports continue to build confidence, resilience, and global awareness—lessons that are just as important off the field as on it.
What inspired you to become part of the Piedmont Soccer Association?
My son currently plays soccer through Piedmont Schools as well as with WSA, and being able to watch him develop a passion for the game has been incredibly meaningful to me. Soccer has always been a major part of my life, and having played and experienced the sport worldwide, I’ve seen firsthand how it brings communities together across cultures. I would love to see that same love for the sport continue to grow and become even more prominent in Piedmont.
Being involved with the Piedmont Soccer Association is an opportunity for me to support the next generation of players, strengthen the local soccer community, and bring a global perspective to how youth sports can inspire teamwork, cultural awareness, and personal development.
What is your professional background, and what skills from this are you bringing to our team?
My professional background is in business leadership, marketing strategy, and digital operations, with extensive experience working both locally and globally. I have collaborated with organizations across different countries, giving me insight into global best practices in leadership, strategy, and community engagement. I hope to bring these skills to the Piedmont Soccer Association by helping support organizational development, strategic planning, and community outreach—ensuring that our programs are not only effective locally, but also informed by broader, global perspectives on youth sports and development.
What is the most important lesson you hope young athletes learn on the field?
On the field, I hope young athletes learn teamwork, perseverance, and the value of hard work. Soccer teaches players that success comes through collaboration, dedication, and supporting one another through both victories and challenges.
What do you hope they’ll learn off the field?
Off the field, I hope they learn character, respect, and resilience. Through my international experiences, I’ve seen how exposure to diverse perspectives can shape empathy, cultural understanding, and leadership—qualities that extend far beyond sports and can positively impact school, relationships, and future careers.
What is your all-time favorite sports memory, either playing, watching, or coaching?
Some of my favorite sports memories come from playing soccer internationally as a youth, and then at the varsity and college levels in the United Arab Emirates, Christ College, and Lee University. These experiences exposed me to the global nature of the sport, showing how soccer can unite people from all backgrounds and cultures.
Today, my most meaningful memories are watching my son grow as a player and develop the same love for the sport that I experienced worldwide. Seeing him embrace soccer with passion and dedication, while learning teamwork and resilience, is incredibly rewarding—and reinforces my belief in the power of sports to shape both local and global citizens.
